Loosing My Bonus

So this is a rant that I have that I am very upset with. I started working with this company for two years at the end of June. My first year there I received a raise that I was not expecting. It was small, 69 cents, but I did not question it as I had not been there a year. They also provided a quarterly bonus as well for retention. In November of 2022 I moved and started working remotely. I did this to go back to school, to further my education and to have a better paying job as a nurse. I ended up with a new supervisor and for my yearly performance review, I asked to see about seeing if I could get a full dollar raise. A few weeks later, I found out that it was just shy of a full dollar raise. I said what ever…

I said what ever close enough and moved on. I never said told any one at work that I was a bit upset with it being under a dollar.

About a month ago the General Manager (who was an awesome guy) sent an email that I read incorrectly on and I thought that we were getting an additional raise and everyone was going to get a $2,500 quarterly bonus. This guy advocated for us in trying to make our working conditions better and did as much as he could to make our lives easier. Well about 2 weeks ago he either was quietly fired, or said I quit and left.

Today my manager sent an email to me with a letter attached saying that they were removing the quarterly bonus and giving people raises in addition to the start of the year. My raise was $1.20. After doing a quick calculation I found that I will be loosing out between $4000 and up to $6000 dollars. yearly. I double checked this with my supervisor and she said that what I said was correct. I plan on talking to her and saying that I am upset that we are loosing this and I feel like the raise is very small compensation in loosing this. They also did not include a reason on why we were getting rid of the bonus as well.

Is there anything that else that I should ask about this? I feel like I want to try to unionize my work place, but it feels like it will be a challenge to do so working remotely. I feel like I should record this conversation with her and see what her reaction is and to go from there.
