Today my boss forced me to stay late at work and sing the ABC’s to her.

Title. I’m dead serious. I just started a new part-time job as a swim instructor and part of the job is singing to the kids to make them less nervous. My boss is a typical bootlicker, the type who has no hobbies and no life outside this job (something she brags about). I also think she may have some sort of social disorder. Title. I’m dead serious. I just started a new part-time job as a swim instructor and part of the job is singing to the kids to make them less nervous.

My boss is a typical bootlicker, the type who has no hobbies and no life outside this job (something she brags about). I also think she may have some sort of social disorder. I’ve been trying to just ignore her but training me seems to be her new hyperfixation. She already extended my training by a week.

Today I came in really sick with a sinus infection and bad sore throat. Probably should have stayed home but I’m desperate to finish training and get away from my boss. I guess I wasn’t singing loud enough to the kids. So she made me stand there after everyone else left and sing to her repeatedly. I picked the ABC’s because it’s the shortest song I know. It was that or Old McDonald.

So I, a grown-ass woman, had to stand in front of my boss and sing the ABC’s repeatedly, at different volumes and pitches, to her satisfaction. I did it slower, then louder, and then had to do it again to make sure I was “projecting.”

Am I humiliated? Yes. Will I be back tomorrow? Also yes. FML.
