Two jobs for the price of one

Started a new forklift job a couple weeks ago. They make food packaging. I run the “forming” side and another operator works the “press” side. Except the press side job is currently vacant. The guy who trained me as his replacement said he was doing both jobs for the last month. I knew the day would come (today) that they would start asking me to do the same.

I asked if they are hiring someone for the press side. I said I don't mind helping out, but I don't want it to become a regular thing like with the guy before me. I told him that someone is going to be paid $20/hr to do that job. Whereas I will effectively be paid $0/hr. Supervisor assured me they are hiring people, but he gave me that look (you know the one) that says “oh, look who thinks he special and doesn't want to be a team player.

My eyes say back to him “mf, you really think $20/hr deserves extra work?? I'm barely getting by, meanwhile this international corporation is getting free labor because they can't keep staffing in line!”
