My job has a very dumb policy about trash and we need the head managers permission to take the garbage out.
The issue with this is that as the head manager they're always constantly busy and according to the policy she has to go with us to take the trash out. Recently it was changed to where the department manager could go with us to take trash out.
Well the other day I had to take out the trash and I couldn't find any manager to go with me for almost 20 minutes when I heard over the intercom that we had a trash call(basically means all departments can take the trash out).
I gather the trash and go to the dumpster and nobody is there so I just tossed the bags into the dumpster and went back to work. A few minutes later I got called to the office and yelled at for taking trash out alone.
The head manager said that she was waiting by the dumpster but nobody showed up so she left(it only took me like 2 minutes to take the trash to the dumpster). I politely explained that I did everything I could to follow the policy but after a certain point its just a massive inconvenience for everyone involved including the managers.
Apparently the rule was made to stop people from stealing trash(????) But whatever money the save with the policy they lose in productivity. I was writen up for taking the trash out and it's complete bullshit
