A few thoughts:
-30 hours a week is 104 hours less per year( 3 extra weeks of rest)
-6 hour work days, synchronized with a six hour school day (9am -3pm) would save a ton in child care costs that many parents incur before and after school.

a six hour night shift is going to be easier/healthier than 8+ hours

if there's a need to do a double shift, this would max out at 12 hours (instead of 16hours if you do a double 8hr).

if you have a shitty commute, shorter work days mean you have more free time per day.
-
its easier to keep the typical monday-fri schedule than the 4 day work week.
