Hi, everyone. I’m in a bit of a tricky situation at my work. Here’s some backstory:
I’m an assistant property manager, for a property management company. I live on site, with a discount. My fiancé and I moved down here for his job, and have lived in this state for a little over a year. We realized we wanted to be with family, and move back home. Our lease ends in July, and we have plans to move back home (about 16 hours away). I don’t have a new job yet, I am interviewing though, and neither does my fiancé. We have a place to live, so moving without jobs wouldn’t be a huge issue with either of us.
Here’s where my tricky situation comes in. My company is very small, and everyone works very close in the office together. My boss has been asking about my renewal of the lease the past week, as he needs a 60 day notice. I just told him we aren’t renewing, and he is blowing my phone up and asking questions. Why not, where am I going to live, where else could we go, etc. I don’t like lying, but I don’t feel comfortable telling him about us moving back home because I don’t have a job to give my formal notice yet. I said we’re looking at houses just so he’d leave me alone, and he is still confronting me with questions.
I just don’t know what to do. I’m feeling frustrated and overwhelmed, I wish he’d stop asking about it and I just can give my notice when I have a job, or when we’re about to move (whichever comes first). Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and thank you for taking the time to read.
