I need some advice on how to give notice at my job. I was offered a manager position at Domino's, full time, benefits and $18 an hour to start.
I currently work for a small business, significantly less pay, no benefits, and have been begging for full time for the better half of a year.
My problem is, I have no idea how to tell my boss I'm leaving. We only have a handful of employees, and she doesn't have anyone to replace me. All of our new hires quit by their second shift. My boss and I have this weird.. Idk, “friendship” relationship, and I do care for her. But I need to do what is best for my family too. My fiance isn't working as much, and I've had to call old clients of mine from my cleaning company to work for them again to make ends meet.
There is a lot of nepotism at my job as it is family owned. I feel like they're all going to hate me when I tell them I'm leaving, but if my boss really cared about my situation, I wouldn't have to get another job. I'm her best employee and she has said so herself, but I still can't get full time hours (that she willingly gives to her grandmother, and I don't get paid nearly what her grandmother does.) I just feel like I'm in this weird paradox and I feel guilty for even thinking about leaving.
There's been another situation with a coworker of mine. They got caught stealing, and they blame me–they think I'm the reason they got caught, and not that they did it for 8 months on camera. So this coworker has started all kinds of rumors about me the latest being that I do drugs in the parking lot at work. My boss knows what has been going on, and yet still makes me work with this asshat. I had CYS show up at my house because of this assholes rumors.
What would you do?
