Wealth disparity

I don't even know where to begin. Maybe this will open some eyes towards just how much owners of companies make compared to workers. I worked at a small utility that was roughly 10 employees as a designer contractor that payed me roughly $60000/yr in a more expensive part of the country where that barely covered rent. I was happy doing this but time and time again as I got my work done in perfect manner, I was thanked and assigned more work. Being sick of this as well as quarterly $200 bonuses I did some research on our contracts and how much the company was charging for the work that myself and fellow employees were doing. The base rate was $40/hr for “junior designers” as well as an up front contract usually equating from anywhere to $3000-$30000 as a flat fee depending on the size and complexity and what…

Being sick of this as well as quarterly $200 bonuses I did some research on our contracts and how much the company was charging for the work that myself and fellow employees were doing. The base rate was $40/hr for “junior designers” as well as an up front contract usually equating from anywhere to $3000-$30000 as a flat fee depending on the size and complexity and what not. Keep in mind this was on top of the hourly fee. Some of these tasks only took a couple hours for myself, which would net the owners several thousand dollars. I was paid at roughly $28/hr which doesn't even touch the contract fee for some of these projects let alone the hourly rate the execs are charging as working time. Anyways I was fired for “silent quitting” as my one boss called it at the time. Thanks for your time, I hope one day we all realize just how much we are taken advantage of while our bosses talk about purchasing a second or third house. God bless. Fuck society

Ps. I also never went to a doctor while there due to the employees not receiving dental or vision insurance and having to front the health care cost due to it “being expensive to the owners.”

Maybe a warning to engineering students as well. Don't get an engineering degree if you don't plan on working towards a P.E. license. It is all that matters in a lot of the engineering world (i.e. putting your stamp on something even if its been figured out and solved for 30 years) and obtaining it will make or break your engineering career.

Tldr: don't do engineering if you don't like taking it in the ass for 5+yrs.
