No picking up extra shifts.

I am a pediatric home care nurse, and there aren’t enough nurses to cover shifts. Last month one of the families asked if I could work on Saturday so they could attend their other child’s graduation. I got it ok’d through the scheduler and agreed to work. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago when something came up and I needed to be off yesterday, which was also approved. This morning I got a text from the new scheduling person, telling me it’s against policy to pick up an extra day to make up for a missed day of work. I explained I had agreed prior to needing the day off. She then asks for proof, to which I ask if she wants me to send the texts and emails. Her response was “No, just go ahead and work Saturday since it’s too short of a notice for the family.” Ok,…
