I went from “successful” corporate employee to facing homelessness in 2 weeks.

(Apologies for any formatting issues with this post I’m on mobile and very stressed out.) Im 25 and I did everything they tell you to do to be successful. I went to university, got good grades, secured my bachelor’s degree, and started working in my field right away. I felt secure in my career so I even saved up my money over the course of a year and bought my first home. A few months later there starts to be talk around the office about money problems and people potentially being cut. Then last Tuesday I get called into the bosses office. Im done. Im 25 and I did everything they tell you to do to be successful. Im done. Buying my house cost me my entire savings and I had just started replenishing it. No emergency fund either. I immediately applied for unemployment but haven’t received anything in the mail or heard anything back yet. I also put in the application with my lender to have my mortgage payments paused for a few months. They told me it could take 30 days until my application is processed and I have to make payments until it’s approved. I’m applying everywhere I can including restaurants and retail jobs just so I can get some income as quickly as possible. I’m going to have to go to a local food pantry so I can eat soon. Bills due in less than 2 weeks and I’m $300 short. I went from feeling secure to dead broke in 10 days. I’m still in shock. I knew this type of thing happens to people but I never thought it would happen to me. I’m also a first generation student and my family barely makes enough money to support themselves let alone help me out financially. Moral of the story is? I don’t know! I’m feeling majorly scammed right now. Thank you for reading and allowing me to have a platform to vent I guess.
