Office manager for 2 medical offices. Been here almost a year.
Pay: $20/hr and then there was supposed to be bonuses and potential raises due to performance.
Minimum wage: $14 when I started and is now $17.
Current Responsibilities (not what I was hired for)
-Marketing
-Fixing 10+ years of billing issues
-sending notes to other offices
-scheduling
-phones
-sending statements
-uploading and putting in all patient info.
-restocking, inventory and purchasing for the offices.
-IT
-converting over to a EMR system for 20+ years of records.
-hiring other medical staff (but not an assistant for me, just people that provide a service that can be billed for)
-cleaning all offices after every patient
-taking payments
-calling adjusters.
-medical records requests.
Pros for working here:
Get medical treatment and massage but only when the schedule allows for it so maybe once a month.
Cons:
No benefits at all.
Just recently started actually getting paid overtime pay after 8 months, because we switched over to a payroll company instead of Boss doing it by themselves.
Has been promised several bonuses for milestones that I have achieved in fixing past Manager mistakes. Nothing.
Can’t ask for a raise because apparently Boss hasn’t paid themselves since October even though this is the most profitable the office has been in years.
Applied to everything I can in this field but either I don’t have enough experience, I don’t have a college degree or I haven’t applied because they know my boss. So I feel like stuck and taken advantage of when it had such potential to be a great place and it was for the first 3-4 months and then I saw the cracks and now it’s like a hell.
