There's other stuff involved like another guy being there helping my boss get onto the 2nd floor of the storage unit connected to the main building, looking inside the car, and some mostly inaudible banter with a few hateful slurs able to be heard, but I figured that just showing the part that matters will make this more straight forward. Because there's no excuse for it.
Yes, political disagreements and me saying I won't be voting for any local or the upcoming federal election after I was aggressively forced into the conversation, resulted in my boss melting down with some choice words, accusations of me being a socialist, and accusing me of hating America. Didn't matter when I tried to explain the lack of progress or action about various problems that effected ME and others who weren't in a bubble, but he decided to dismiss me as an “other” and apparently thought the rational reaction to all of this, was to throw a square concrete block, right through my car windshield. Because… He can't handle any criticism or information from outside his bubble I guess? Someone on the first floor from the side of the building zoomed in and caught this from the window. They then closed that entrance and acted like nothing happened when I found out about the damage, pretending to be surprised.
I went to the cops and they are looking into it. There's a bank that's closed right now but will be open tomorrow that the cops suspect has this same incident in clearer view through their security cam. Even though the pants you can see in the vid match exactly what my manager was wearing, they still want to be 100% sure for some reason.
But yeah, it's really just that simple. He went to where I was parked, then destroyed my Windshield over nothing with a block. The people at my company are also stalling waiting for the police to confirm it was him tomorrow, instead of going with the obvious evidence. This is what you deal with in lower paying service jobs, not a good time I wouldn't recommend.
This does create a problem however. See, I'm currently living OUT of my car for the time being, and the broken windshield not only makes that impossible because now the car is exposed to the elements (will rain soon) and whatever else is crawling around, but it also means no protection from anyone who might want to come in and take stuff.
It costs $100 with my poor insurance to replace the windshield but they estimate that I won't get through the queue and the repair won't get done until tomorrow around noon, meaning I have to leave the car with them overnight. So I need a hotel, but because of cost to repair the windshield it only leaves me with 30 left, and Hotels generally cost $80+ around here.
I walked to a few hotels myself explaining the situation, but unsurprisingly they don't care to help, and the churches tuck tale and run when they are needed most refusing to aide too, which also didn't surprise me. I'm in a small town too so I don't have many resources available you would have in a big city.
I am wondering if anyone knows a way, maybe an online coupon or some other promotion, that will allow me to reduce the price of a $80-90 hotel to 30? I know that's probably an extreme longshot and isn't likely, but considering I live out of my car and I need to get that windshield fixed asap, I must find a way to get a hotel for tonight until the car is repaired tomorrow.
All of this over an emotional meltdown about nothing, how do these people even get in these positions, seems all the worse managers all work in the service industries.
