New employer asked me if I was ok taking a 10-11 dollar pay cut, with the potential of only being a 4-6 dollar pay cut in a 1.5-2 years.

I was interviewing for a team lead role, when asking about my salary expectations I said I was wanting to keep my current salary of 55k a year, if not be paid a bit more. I was informed that wasn't possible as no one makes near that at , even the most experienced team leads there make maybe 24 and that's where I could be after 2 years of training and new certification. But initially I would get paid 17-18 while working 8-10 hour days. They assumed it was ok, cause they wanted me to come in to see their facility and meet the staff, and not even asking if I accept the position.
