I’m 20 years old and haven’t been able to find a goddamn job since graduating high school last year in January 2022. I’ve been seeing a lot of stuff online about hiring managers fucking hating my generation (z) and at first I thought it was bullshit. But now I’m starting to believe it.
I live in a small town in NY where a lot of people know each other. So I’d assume that trying to apply for the small mom & pop shop down the street I’d been going to since I was a kid and all the staff knew me would hire me.. nope, turns out they go through a goddamn hiring company. I’ve tried applying to fast food, Walmart, Dunkin, and other places that are supposedly “easy” to get hired. No rejection letters no nothing.
I’m assuming the issues that are keeping me from being hired are
- back in 2020 some drama happened and everyone hated me & my reputation was ruined
- I don’t have references other then family members since I was an outcast in HS and grew up without friends. I’ve used teachers before and still wasn’t even hired.
- I’m not deemed pretty by societies standards
My parents keep yelling at me to get a job & arent understanding of the fact that I literally cannot. They tell me I’m lazy & berate me for it and I’ve genuinely had thoughts about taking my life for feeling worthless..
I have no clue why but I can’t find one. Other people I graduated with got jobs but not me..
Is it the economy? Is it because I’m ugly? Is it my reputation? What the fuck is it?!
