So I (19 M) work in a impound lot. I take pictures of cars, clean nasty cars to store personal property of customers. Occasionally I will release cars and personal property to customers. It’s a 8-5 job with unpaid lunch for 15 an hr, which is more difficult to live on in my area, and I work in a warehouse all day in any weather. It’s the only job I was able to get at my age with that Kind of pay (besides Amazon or shitty jobs). I do everything by the book and respectfully. I make sure to treat everyone with respect coworkers and customers alike. I’ve never had a complaint. I’ve never lost anything. I’ve only missed 5 or so days this year not including vacation which wasn’t paid for and I won’t be able to get Pto till a year in. Even though I work my ass off everyday, do everything right, show up on time everyday. First in and last out. My coworkers don’t do the same. They’re always late, always on their phones, always losing property, guns, work supplies and atleast one of them is out once a week and there’s only 2 of them. Seems like my boss doesn’t care about my efforts. Never a thank you, never any sort of recognition. I just do my job and they do the bare minimum and get more respect then I do. When I leave I can’t even get a goodbye. I feel like it’s because of my age. My co workers are way older then me. I’ve been here almost 7 months and are thinking of finding something better or sucking it up and making money on the side or something. I don’t know right now but I need some suggestions or advice.
