Mostly a rant,
So i work in a field that requires high degrees, in most cases if you don't have a PhD you are doing mostly manual labour and nothing more.
In my work place they decided to do the opposite, the founder has no formal education on the subject, and the acting manager with the most seniority (not discounting her at all) has a master's degree, but seems she hasn't had much additional education in the last 10 years.
Yesterday they were arguing with me about something basic that i learned in bachelor's. Two processes that have the same name, but they are completely unrelated. (Think or a term like “activation” that can be used in a myriad of unrelated things).
Even though i told them it's unrelated and just a waste of time and money, they are doing it anyway. This is akin to painting your car red to make it go faster. And i know it's not my place to judge, he can burn the money if he wants to, it's just discouraging to see him doing that.
And i keep finding myself needing to explain to them a lot of stuff that is considered basic the field, i just learned today that some many of the experiments don't have controles, I'll be leaving in about a year, but this is so frustrating.
(I'm not the only one who is frustrated and discouraged, other doctors here have the same opinion).
