Interviewing the employer

I’ve been looking and applying to different companies, mainly in a different line of work than what I’m currently in. I’m in management and I am just sick of my current company with being overworked and not able to complete my actual responsibilities plus many other issues that are too many to list that have gone on for years. I do however get paid well and have great benefits. I haven’t considered staying in the same industry due to my benefits and salary not being matched or better by a different company. Well a competitor has reached out to me but before I agree for an interview, I’m going to ask several questions through email about guaranteed salary, benefits, hours, etc. I have a busy schedule and I don’t want to waist my time interviewing for a company that is underpaying with less benefits. I have the upper hand due to the industry’s need of being understaffed, so I’m going to take full advantage and basically demand I make more with equal or better benefits or don’t waist my time. I feel like I’m being a jerk before they even meet me but I know my value with all my experience. Has this strategy worked for anyone?
