I’ve been with my company for five years and currently am on a hybrid work schedule. I have two young kids (8 & 6) who I couldn’t get into full summer camp and but was only able to get 4 out of the 9 weeks of summer in parks and rec camp.
For the past three months I have been frantic about finding summer care but unsuccessful, last resort was to see if I could go temp remote.( I was full remote during Covid lockdown) I gave them a plan and expressed that it wasn’t me babysitting but making sure they are fine as my property has cameras all around and they are self sufficient. My wife is working ten hour days so she can have Friday off with them.
I have been met with nothing but resistance and disappointment from this company, they claim they are moving away from full remote work and even giving me a week of pure remote is stretching it.
I’m at my wits end here, I’m frantic and not looking to quit but really feel like they’re forcing my hand. I don’t understand this need to have us in the building all the time and the majority of these calls comes from the out of touch executives.
Sorry for the formatting and the ranting I just don’t know what to do and am looking for sound advice from other anti-work redditors.
TLDR : it feels like the company is out of touch and forcing me to choose between my kids and a job.
