How is 3 days of paid bereavement leave considered enough for death of a family member?

I should preface this by saying nobody in my family has died recently, just making an observation on how insensitive this is. If my mom, dad, or sister passed away I don’t think I would be able to perform well at my job within a month, let alone the same week. Three days is like an appropriate amount of time to grieve the death of a pet. Corporate America at its finest.
