Forced annual leave with an hour’s notice.

Specifically UK. I am full time employed salary staff and am leaving my job in 2 weeks. I know I don't have long left but they are doing this with other staff in the company that have longer to go and this has really pissed me off. We have some clients that keep cancelling session times for various reasons. Usually if a client cancels we do admin jobs at home. As my client has cancelled ALOT recently, admin jobs are scarce so we're left with not much to do. My employer has now decided that if a session is cancelled then we need to take that time off as annual leave. This means that if an AM time slot (9am start) is cancelled at 8am then they will be taking that time off as holiday. This happened yesterday and I argued that I hadn't had enough notice period for it…

My employer has now decided that if a session is cancelled then we need to take that time off as annual leave. This means that if an AM time slot (9am start) is cancelled at 8am then they will be taking that time off as holiday. This happened yesterday and I argued that I hadn't had enough notice period for it to be classed as anual leave. They then told me that my notice starts now and if any of my other slots are cancelled by the client then I'll be taking it as holiday.
The client still pays even if they cancel.

Are they allowed to do that? Usually I don't know whether a session is cancelled untill about an hour before it starts.
