I’m a team lead for a medical device manufacturer and after returning from a leave for health reasons, it’s clear this place is heading in a terrible direction. My boss made 3 contractors quit over the course of a week, it’s so hard to train people on surgical device manufacturing. My unit makes shit money compared to the others so we’re largely ignored in terms of improvements to our line. Before the contractors quit it was announced that a ton of our staff were being laid off. A lot of team leads and quality technicians were let go as were moving to have quality ops handled by assemblers.
So I’m tasked with having to train new quality techs because these changes will not be done by the end of this month when people are let go.
The unit that makes the most money recently changed management and the manager has pissed so many people off that enough of our 2nd shift has quit that other teams managers are required to interview folks for that unit first. So while I need people in my area, we are unable to hire until the other unit is taken care of first.
People say it’s ya best to focus on what you can control, but I can’t control anything. I have zero agency over my job and the quality of that job.
