So I’m currently working my final week for a company. I work 4 on/4 off night shifts, 6pm-6am. This is my final week of a 4 week notice period which I personally believe was a rather gracious of me to give them.
At the start of the year, I was moved to the other night shift for what I was told would be 3 months. I rearranged my holidays around this and had them signed off by my manager. After 3 weeks on the other shift, I was moved back. Due to the company moving my shifts about (with inadequate notice) and me planning holidays around their changes, I was forced to use 4 of my holidays. I now, at the time of my leaving, owe the company 6.5 nights of pay (4 of which being their fault). I was told by HR when I leave on the 16th, I will owe those 6.5 nights.
On top of this, I’m paid on the 15th each month. We’re paid for the first 2 weeks of the month for work we’ve done and paid in advance for the last 2 weeks of the month.
This place has known for a full month that I finish my final shift on Tuesday 13th at 6 in the morning and my employment will be officially terminated on 16th, the day after payday.
With me not working the final 2 weeks of the month, I expected to get paid for the first 8 nights of the month I did work, minus the 6.5 days I owe them. I was expecting to get paid a grand total of 1.5 nights pay this month.
I got my payslip today and there’s no deductions. They’re apparently paying me a full months wage.
What do I do about this? They’ve had adequate time to make amendments. If I keep quiet is that stealing? Can I keep it or will they come asking for it at a later date from me?
Any help would be appreciated.
