So a management position opened up in the same department that I work for. I spoke with the head of the department and shared my interest because I felt my experience and skills would translate well. (For context I am the third most seasoned person in the department and have earned the respect from everyone including the managers). That conversation went about little over an hour and the HoD also agreed I would make a good fit and said he would get with HR.
Two weeks go by and informs me that I will be promoted to the new manager position and has even made announcement to the department. For about a week I meet with my new manager and with my new team members and get acquainted with the new position. However, the issue is throughout this entire time was an offer ever made to me regarding new salary.
Two days ago I meet with HoD about this issue and he was sort of surprised that I even brought this up as an issue and even stated that it wasn’t a promotion but a job rotation (even though the JD is obviously that of a manager position as I still have the posted copy from Indeed). The HoD made other comments that I took insult to and have made me upset since. At the end we both agreed that I would return back to my original position.
So now I am stuck in this weird situation and I don’t know what to do. Any advise?
