So we have a summer party coming up and I don't want to go, everyone else in my company is going I understand. My manager emailed me twice to ask why and I kept it vague as I work remotely and only go into the office once a month to do some filming.
I'm very appreciative of the offer and have said this in my emails and thanked them but simply do not want to attend.
I'm due to go back into the office in a couple of weeks I just know that at least my manager, their manager and a colleague I work with directly will ask again when I'm in the office.
I'd rather have the afternoon / evening off work, actually work the afternoon or have the afternoon and evening off and be given the money they would have spend on me for that party.
I used to always attend work events like this but I'm further away from work so it requires a fair amount of travel and simply I don't want to spend my time with colleagues when I don't have to. Plus some colleagues I don't like so why be forced to spend more time than I have to with them.
The last few partys were average and I'm just over it.
How do I tackle this in the office, I don't really want go go to any work parties ever again but think Ill have to go to the Christmas one to make up for not going to this one. Sighs.
I'm not good at these situations in person I find it awkward and have a history of people pleasing. Please advise!
