They did this with mass transit / light rail to force us all into buying cars.
I have a working theory that I can't find anything about. There's been reported observations that single family homes (SFH) are being purchased in mass by corporations. My speculation is that this is being done to force more people into Kowloon type / high rise apartments.
While I'm totally supportive of people being able to rent small footprint spaces – for these businesses to scheme into giving us no other option just doesn't seem right to me.
