Remember, Employers Don’t Care about You

Short story i was reflecting on earlier today. Years back, I'd worked for a company via a temp agency. Was there for 2 years, constantly being told they were going to make me staff and get all the perks that came with it. Eventually, I'd got tired of waiting and began applying elsewhere. The timing couldnt have worked out better because they did finally to make me staff (all for a $0.25 raise, only actual perk was no seasonal lay offs).

As fate would have it I'd been interviewing at other companies and received an offer on my very 1st day on staff. I spent the day filling out my transfer paperwork and getting new ID photo. End of the day I put in my two week notice and was immediately brought the department heads office. They were furious and fired me right then and there claiming I wasted their time and was not fit for their company, stopping short of accusing me of using the new position as leverage to the position I was taking (I didnt).

I was told it would've been more considerate to advise them when I began my job search and therefore I accepted the staff position dishonestly. Anyways, new job at the time was a better raise than what I got so I have absolutely no regrets.

Just a reminder for those of you who stick around hoping for more and employers who make promises they don't intend on keeping.
