Company docks pay for being late but I can’t physically get in the building

Like title says, at my job pay is counted every 15 minutes, so if you click in one minute late you’re not paid for the whole 15. This is obviously an issue in itself but I didn’t care in the past because I just made it up with smoke breaks. Now I’ve transferred to a different location at the same company, but this building is different. At my old job you could just walk in, for this one you have to scan your card outside to open the door. But my card doesn’t work at the door even though I’ve asked them to fix it and it’s been months now. I have to wait for someone to let me in and usually I’m only waiting a minute, but that minute costs me 15 minutes of pay. Sometimes I work the 15, sometimes I don’t. At the start of the shift…

Sometimes I work the 15, sometimes I don’t. At the start of the shift most people sit back down for a coffee before they work (including management) so I do that too, but everyone else is getting paid for that and I’m not.

A real solution would be to get there earlier but I start at 6am and I don’t feel like it should be my responsibility when my job is the one at fault. I also don’t think I can file for anything because there’s times I AM actually a minute late and I couldn’t tell you what days what.

I guess this is more a vent post than anything, I wish companies would do away with docking pay like that
