I was struck by a debilitating disease which advanced significantly in one year.

I was working full-time for a nonprofit agency, but because of my condition we had to reduce my hours. I still completed my assignments and met my deadlines, but my schedule needed to be flexible. The quality of my work was even recognized by the national organization, which invited me to contribute to the national website. In the meantime, our executive Director created a new position and hired a new person. I was asked to train this new person regarding my projects and responsibilities. Then I was told that there was no room in the budget to sustain my position for the next calendar year. They basically replaced me by creating a different title. They had no reason or justification to get rid of me other than an unwillingness to make accommodations for my handicap. The only reason why I haven’t filed a complaint or taken any action is because of their nonprofit status, the good work that the agency does, and their already existing struggles with finances. But it does piss me off.
