As the question in the title states, this is my situation. I was working for a company which was acquired by a large multi-national corporation. I began working closely with the parent corporations team when the boss at the recently acquired smaller company got his panties in a bunch over my inclusion in larger projects. He tried to fire me using poor performance as an excuse, which was total bullshit based on my recent above average performance review which HE GAVE ME. I put up a good argument and showed him all of the reasons what he was doing was wrong, then fired me under the excuse of poor profits and inability to pay my salary.
I did get a severance package, but the team which i was working with at said parent corporation (who’s HR facilitated the firing and severance) is now using me for freelance projects.
I enjoy the work, and the team at the larger parent Corp. they all hold me in high regard and are upset by my bosses actions. Obviously, they want to continue working with me on projects because my talent and experience brings value to their company.
Is this legal?
