I was hired as the head of marketing for a startup. This ended up including doing everything from painting the walls (!!) to content creation, blog writing to scheduling appointments and taking bookings. As the “head of marketing” there were no other marketing employees, it was just me, and I was constantly getting overruled by the founders of the company, who knew nothing about marketing.
After two months I was given one month’s notice as I “wasn’t doing my job”. I told them I was doing the jobs of several people, and that I would not be working my notice period. I left and never looked back.
Less than two months later, the whole company had shut down, and the four floor building was up for rent. It’s a good feeling when people who exploit you don’t get their way.
