Company wants me to go into the office for a 30 minute team meeting.

Hi all, Apologies for any formatting etc on mobile. This is based in the UK. Since COVID I have worked from home permanently. I used to drive daily to the office however unfortunately I no longer have a car due to falling it's MOT. My manager is requiring us to attend a 30 minute meeting in person in the office which would require a time and monetary expense they won't cover. It would take multiple trains or buses to get there as it is an out of town area where the office is based. The meeting isn't even important it is a get the team together meeting. Weekly Teams meetings mostly have nothing important in them. I have no coworkers who live near to me that I could ride share with. I have explained this would be inconvenient to do and that I wouldn't attend however they are trying to…

Hi all,

Apologies for any formatting etc on mobile.

I have explained this would be inconvenient to do and that I wouldn't attend however they are trying to say this is mandatory. Realistically if public transport worked it would require upto 1 hour of walking plus at minimum an hour on transport in each direction making my 8.5 hour shift in excess of 12 on that day.

The cost of Taxis would exceed what I earn on that day alone.

I have not got a working from home contract nor have I had a contract update to reflect working from home conditions that I have to adhere to.

Any ideas on how to deal with this?
