It finally happened to me. Our company announced that everyone within a certain range of our office had to come in to work. No exceptions, no accommodations.
I have the no accommodations part in writing, as well as the fact that they wouldn’t honor their previous written approval to convert me to a full time remote employee.
It isn’t even worth it to fight anymore. Time to find a job that will honor its commitments to employees, and let me work where I work best. From home. This isn’t about productivity, it’s about control and making the office space worth something. They know we can work from anywhere and have a better life, they just don’t want us to have that.
A reminder that if you think a company will do what’s best for you, you’re wrong.
