So I applied for an apartment maintenance job recently. They had me do 3 interviews, and scheduled a 4th after I did an unpaid “day in the field” to demonstrate my skills.
So I show up at the zoom meeting after doing nearly a full days work with a lead maintenance guy, and I sit there for almost an hour waiting for the VP of the company to jump on the call, but nothing. I finish the day of work, and go home being reassured that them missing the interview would not be held against me.
I get an email 2 days later saying they decided to go with someone else due to my lack of experience. Now, it doesn’t bother me that I didn’t get the job because I don’t have a ton of experience. That’s fair enough, though they do boast about their willingness to train and how wonderful their training program is. What bothers me is that I was fully transparent about my lack of experience experience from the very beginning, yet they drug me through 3 interviews and a whole day of work (where admittedly I didn’t do too much other than help flip an apartment and ask questions), then decide not to give me the respect of a final interview just to fucking email me a rejection.
