CEO trying to change WFH Flexibility for Optics and rent

Sorry if this is so long and grammar issues I’m on my phone typing quickly. Basically the title. I’m a project manager and I lead launches of products for a healthcare company. We all have flexibility to be in office when necessary (I do about 85% of my week physically in and the other 15% at home or a coffee shop). There hasn’t been any issues from my two current divisions or my last one, aside from one division within the company who is just not making any sales and the boss man chops it up to them not being in (and I don’t work sales so I don’t know how true that is or not) . And it is realistically costing the company a ton of money with all the inventory they purchased to sell and we are kind of sitting on so I get that is frustrating. My,…

My, I guess rant, is that I lead two other divisions currently launching. One in the healthcare space and one in an entirely random agricultural space. We haven’t even released products just yet but we have contracted sales for when our patents go through by Friday and our machinery is operating efficiently to handle the order load. With just the healthcare product we are going to make enough in profit to cover my entire yearly salary alone in one month, if not more. I love the company and I get along with my co workers so I won’t just quit and find something else for this and I believe in the companies vision and product line but I’m annoyed that because the one division who used to be our leading division isn’t making sales right now and our rent is expensive that our CEO held a meeting today basically saying that virtual working is not beneficial and for optics if he’s paying rent we should be in the office. And it’s immediate attendance physically there.

Major side note: in the two divisions I product launch I am the only employee that lives in the state and works in the office. Every single other employee works “virtually” on two different coasts. So the reason I loved the flexibility is I work more hours in a day than most because I have two time zones to handle tasks. And I’m not complaining about the hours, I love it, I’m good at it and I am paid well. It just seems unfair to take away the flexibility I’ve had since I started for optics and “rent” costs.

I’m going to push back a little given my position and stance and rapport with the CRO and President with the company but I just had to rant because unless they relocate both my teams to the office i do think I should be allowed to continue my flexibility that was contracted when I was offered the position. As well as the support corporate departments who I’ve never missed a deadline because they weren’t in the office even when I was or had issues getting items approved because they were not physically in. Idk maybe I’m just an entitled millennial. Anywho that’s my rant if you made it this far thanks!
