I don't know what to even say first.
There are multiple definitions of what a professional is. One of those is, 'anyone who has a four year bachelors' degree and is working in a field related to that degree. That's me. That's a lot of my co-workers.
My company has created career classifications.
We are coded as production/factory workers and are kept from being classified as professionals.
I'm watching them hire all of these people who have the same or less qualifications as myself while even refusing to even consider promoting us into those roles.
This isn't just about title, it's about opportunities, growth, money, and frankly resume building.
If companies want to hire college educated people then they need to give us the opportunities that exists within instead of keeping us stagnant.
I don't even know how to word my frustrations.
I will never feel guilty about looking for better. Better is out there it's just a matter of finding it and figuring out how to move to whatever city it's in.
