I’m a custodian at an elementary school. Someone above us decided in a cost cutting measure, to shut off all air conditioners for the summer. The person’s reasoning was the students aren’t there, so very little cleaning needs done and the custodians just sit around all the time. Daily temperatures have been in the upper 80s to mid 90s
During the summer, we do a complete top to bottom cleaning, strip & re-wax all floors, shampoo all carpets and set up everything before classes begin at the end of summer.
It’s the end of July and we are slightly halfway through the school. We are on schedule to finish the week before school starts.
We complained, filed grievances and almost 2 months later, the person was told to turn the A/C back on. This next week is supposed to be the coolest since the beginning of June.
