When applying for a job, does the browser seem to change the pay amount when you go back and check it after an interview?

So, I can't tell if I am crazy or not. So I applied for this job and it was posted online in the newspaper but then you had to go to the companies website and apply there. It said that the job was from $13-$15 an hour based on experience Okay, fine, so I go to the interview and one of the managers are interviewing me and it's going pretty well I think and they ask me how much I am asking for . I tell them that I want $15 an hour because I am a good worker and I have all this experience, yada yada yada…. And the hiring manager looks a little taken aback and she goes “We don't start at $15/hour. We never did. I don't think anyone here makes $15 an hour.” And I politely point out that on their website it says that the…

Okay, fine, so I go to the interview and one of the managers are interviewing me and it's going pretty well I think and they ask me how much I am asking for . I tell them that I want $15 an hour because I am a good worker and I have all this experience, yada yada yada…. And the hiring manager looks a little taken aback and she goes “We don't start at $15/hour. We never did. I don't think anyone here makes $15 an hour.” And I politely point out that on their website it says that the pay is from $13 to $15 an hour. And she shakes her head and says ” No, we never pay $15/hour. So they tell me they will let me know.

I go home and check the ad again and this time it only says starting at $13 an hour. Now I SWEAR that the ad on the online paper and company website said $13-$15 an hour earlier.

My question is, is this some kind of browser thing like Delta airlines where the airfare goes up if you check ticket prices but don't buy and then close your browser and then come back to it and the price is higher? Or did the company go back and correct on their website the starting wage because I wanted the higher pay and the manager was like “We can't have that?”

Has anyone ever had this happen to them?

I am not going to take the job.
