So, I was debating on posting this.
I am a trucker. Not over the road, I am home every night. So, with me being home every night, I of course show up to a terminal or workplace every morning just like most people before doing my route for the day.
Well, about a week or so ago before all the morning shift drivers headed out we had to do a meeting with all of the managers (we have 6 of them, middle management is ridiculous where I work)
Basically we were berated for 30 minutes straight saying that we are lazy, we all call in too much, we all show up too late, and that we should be grateful to work at said company. One manager even pulled the card of “You can change companies, but you know this is the best you’ll ever work for.”
“Y’all are grown ass men. Stop fuckin calling in for bullshit reasons. Any PTO day from now on is one point and seven points gets you fired.” Is what one of the main managers said.
One manager starting calling out drivers for using PTO days in front of the whole group, another said we need to show up on time all the time even though he is 30 mins to an hour late everyday which messes us drivers up.
One driver called them all out on their BS. Said this meeting is stupid, y’all are hypocritical, and stop wasting our time.
What did they do? They retaliated by not having his load ready the next morning and told the guys who load the truck to not help him. One of the loaders decided to help him regardless because he didn’t like that they retaliated, so they wrote him up for insubordination.
Oh also our managers said we cannot sit during safety meetings. No reason given, just we are not allowed to sit. Basically reminding us that when they are speaking, we are below them.
I talked with a bunch of the other drivers and majority have said they are quitting.
The company I’m speaking of is the one who sells cars only online. Rhymes with Nirvana.
I already have another job lined up, just waiting for the official offer letter.
Don’t put up with this shit in trade jobs or any job. You are not some punching bag for managers.
