Micromanagement is driving me nuts

I’ve been at this new workplace for 2 months now and I’m already burnt out. My manager is a micromanager from hell, he literally treats me like a child & a personal assistant. I’ve even written down an entire list of things he’s done that make me reconsider this job. First off, biggest red flag: He uses time doctor to monitor me, for people who don’t know, time doctor is an employee monitoring app. I work mostly remote and this app monitors my screen by taking screenshots every couple of minutes. This isn’t that big of a deal but it even records the amount of times I click around on a mouse or type on a keyboard. My manager always comes to me and asks me what I’m doing and that he’s looking at time doctor and can see I haven’t moved my mouse around much etc. It’s crazy. Another…

It’s crazy.

Another red flag: He harps on me for not using capital letters in slack where we casually chat to coworkers. His reason is so that I practice good grammar… My first language is English and I went to school? I am not an idiot.

He also orders me around impolitely, I never get a “Please do this task” It’s always a “Do this and do that.”

Not to mention he gives me the weirdest tasks that aren’t relevant to my job description like searching up and writing a list of good cafes that he can meet clients at. I am not his personal assistant!

It sucks because this job is actually not that bad, I always do the work I’m asked to do with great efficiency and everyone else is nice to work with. It’s just absolutely a nightmare to work when he’s around. It’s almost like I’m in heaven when he’s out sick.

I’m really losing it.
