Our company was bought by a bigger international company recently.
I was speaking with a fairly new employee from the other company makes a bit more then me. When I asked for a raise that matches I was told to be careful. We aren't supposed to discuss wages. There's a company policy.
Well one. 6 months into the takeover I still haven't seen a employee handbook.
Two. Ontario has the Pay Transparency act that protects employees from being punished for discussing pay.
So really what can they do? American Company taking over a Canadian Company.
My thought is that it's nice they have this policy, but it has no teeth. What can they really do besides continue to not give me the raise I deserve?
