I was really surprised with some of the reasoning seen in certain posts here.
On the topic of large corporations automating away jobs. Fuck them sure, but automation in itself is nothing but a good thing.
The issue is not automation, the issue is them keeping all the profits from our collective technological progression while people lose any way to provide for themselves.
Jobs that can be automated should not exist. It’s no different than pumping up the coal industry when there’s no demand for it.
Every aspect of society that can be automated should be automated, and the profits should be distributed to the people in form of universal basic income.
People should have more free time to live their lives, be creative rather than sit with lifeless eyes in a fucking chair scanning items, attaching pairs of socks or equally uninspiring work.
This is the way we have always progressed. The reason we no longer have 100 hour work weeks is because of technological progression enabling us to work less. This needs to continue. The goal must surely be that one day we may not need to waste any significant amount of precious time in life.
