Long time lurker, first time poster. I'm only a college student, haven't had many jobs. The few I've had, with one exception, have all been full of outright awful people who insist on treating every worker like garbage, all with a fake ass smile. I am a full time student studying computer science, even doing my university's honors program, and I found those jobs far worse than even the 43 page report I made in 2 days earlier this week.
And, to be honest, this sub has started to sadden me. Over and over, I see posts that have some very basic left wing talking point (“capitalism kinda sucks”) and outright dozens of bootlickers worm their way out, and even stay around for a while. When drastic reform is actually suggested, and ideas are planned out, they immediately turn into an exact description of capitalism, but with [insert group of people] on top. Just see that one door dash post.
What I'm saying is, I worry this sub is devolving into one of those groups that outwardly hates capitalism, but cannot articulate why, and still relies on the extremely hierarchical modes of thinking baked into it.
Maybe it's just me, but I want to see more posts outlining actual meaningful policy to put forward in the workplace, or legal resources, or the like. I want to see an actual rejection of the beliefs baked into capitalism, and efforts toward crafting an actual message to work against them. The fact that we are making progress is great, but I don't want to fall into the trap many movements have before, in which they tacitly accept the system by embracing its methods of oppression, as long as some small concessions are made for them.
Apologies for the rant, and who knows, maybe I'm just being cynical.
