This has been on my mind recently. Many people here have been saying that they get an unprofessional response from their boss when they quit their boss despite giving them a proper notice. Me included from the last job I quit. If we really think about it, if bosses can let us go at anytime without warning, why should we give them a 2 week notice? I used to think if I give a notice when I quit, it's mainly to be professional but if not, I am at least avoiding an argument with my boss. My last job my boss cussed me out even though I gave a notice. Now I know there are some very good boss/manager out there that probably deserves a notice, but most of them are not like that. Some people are scared to quit a job because of pushback from their boss/manager. But now I feel like what's the point of even giving a professional notice if the boss/manager will give me pushback anyways? I suppose you do it for your coworkers because once you quit, their workload will probably increase.
