I am a PT aide and was working for a small community based PT place with a total of 4 employees. I have been working there for over a year while going to school. It was perfect. It was about 20 hrs a week and I felt I could balance work and school. I also got along with my boss pretty well even though he was a far right conservative. I was offered a job from a previous employer for the same position and same pay but more hours. About 30-35 hrs a week. I had an interview and liked the company's benefits. I decided to accept the offer since my school is slowing down in terms of workload. I will have about one class a semester for the next year until I graduate. My current boss had stated that we will not be adding more hours per week to our schedule since there are limited patients who come in for PT. He had always said that in every work meeting and at the time I was fine with it. Anyways, I put my two weeks in two weeks ago Monday. My boss looked blinded sided. He treated me like Bruce Willis in
the sixth sense. No talking or looking at me for two weeks. My last day, which was this previous Friday he asked me to meet him in his office at the end of the day. He stated that he was upset that I did not give him more time. He also stated if it was a larger company it wouldn't be a huge deal but since they are losing 25% of their production that I was “screwing them”. Since I was offered the job I am not sure how I would be able to “warn him”. Even if i was looking for the job I don't have to let him know. I did the professional thing and put in my two weeks. I do not need this disrespect for trying to better myself. Thanks for listening to my TED talk. Sorry for the long rant.
