aaaand meet!

But what about the meeting? I’m in an executive role, and while it’s not a low paying position, some things just aren’t worth the brain and soul damage. The owner of the company I work with is the type that changes their mind every five minutes and can’t spell the word “plan”. I was invited to a meeting, alongside 3 other people, with no discernible agenda. Last minute “boss” decides to fly out to another country to attend an event, which puts him squarely on a plane during the meeting time. The rest of the invited attendees show up, and we all exchange pleasantries while we wait for the meeting to begin.

None of us know what the meeting is for, so we start asking around – who called the meeting?

I text “boss” and he says, you’re an executive – run the meeting! I state that we’re already scheduled for one later, it has a plan and agenda, but others who are part of it weren’t invited to this one – and I’m asking what he had hoped to cover/achieve.

I’m then “yelled at” via text that I’m not competent, and that I should basically be ashamed of myself.

I report back to the waiting group that “boss” will not be attending, and that I’m looking forward to working with them later that day.

It’s not just the low end roles that have crazies in their midst. I know it doesn’t sound like much – but it’s literally hundreds of these bits that slowly drive the rest of the company insane.

TL;DR Bunch of us are invited to meeting with no agenda, naturally we’re all confused when the one who called the meeting doesn’t show up. The “boss” that called the meeting berates us for not running a meeting for which we have no reason to be in.
