I’m sick of hearing about this workers shortage

For the last year we've been hearing non stop how there is a worker's shortage in the market but nothing changes. Journalists fire hell at “lazy” workers because we got a measly $1800 from the government as if that's the issue here. I would love to sit down with these journalists and go over job postings on indeed or ziprecruiter together so we can look at what kinds of opportunities are available. First off, when the whole world is screaming about inflation, stagnant salaries are NOT affordable. Simply put, we can't afford to work for you when the cost of living around us drastically changes but yet the income we get doesn't. Secondly, PEOPLE ARE STILL APPLYING TO THESE JOBS AND ARE GETTING REJECTED IN MASS. You can't simultaneously complain about a worker's shortage when you're unwilling to hire new candidates to fill roles. You want a 5 year engineer…

You want a 5 year engineer or technician but want to offer a college intern wage? You're going to get a college intern applicant, its as simple as that and I'm sick of hearing otherwise.

I'm very comfortable where I am right now, I want a new job but I'm not willing to sacrifice my quality of life for absolutely nothing. If you're going to demand I don't see my family because you want to work me 60 hours monday-friday, PAY FOR ME TO DO THAT. Don't pay for me as if I actually work there comfortably 9-5.

If you're not willing to pay, that's fine. I'm sure you can whine to another corporate journalist about how your business is going belly up because people like me are drinking coffee and eating toast. I have no sympathy for you.
