Been at the new job for about 6 months and have pretty much learned everything as it is an administrative role. There is a job posted internally that would give me a 22% increase which I would love to have but it is another admin role which I will probably become bored.
The issue is that my job requires us to inform my current supervisor if we want to transfer. I know deep down my boss would not be very happy about this and there is no guarantee I would get to the position either, which could have greater ramifications as I would have to still work with him. Although I am an admin, I have always been very good at my job and I have unfortunate problem of being so good at times, that I cannot move into a better role. What would you do?
I work in a school district and while there are always several positions posted, but many do not have a much higher pay scale, so if I don't try this opportunity, it may be a while before it comes up again.
What would you?
