So I just had to vent.. F/24yo I been at this job for a little over a year. Recently I made a big step to enroll in school. The program is only a year. I told my manager a month in advance and even told him the hours I was gonna be going. He says in order for them to accommodations the schedule they’ll need a copy of my school schedule COOL! I provided it and here comes the first day for me to start I noticed my schedule isn’t changed so I asked him & he says console isn’t able to approve it . Even with me going with any other school schedule it would’ve conflicted with the hours of operation anyways. I chose the best one. Hours of operation is 7am-8pm n my school schedule is 4pm-8pm so I’m thinking I could easily go on the morning shift 7-3 WRONG . Instead they tell me they can’t accommodate that schedule bc ONE client that I work for needs help on the night shift (I have 8 clients in total) I reached out to HR and they say it’s nothing they can do even tho I was basically told all I need to do was submit my school schedule. What was the point of even submitting it if they can’t accommodate that’s schedule??? I’d even be willing to go partime. I came up with 60 different recommendations and it’s like they not trying to help me there not saying “we can’t do that but we can do this..” it’s all me coming up with the ideas. They say they needs help but rather have a whole person quit vs working with a school schedule. Jobs promote work/life balance but that don’t be the case. It’s a WFH job with over 20,000 employees. They forced me to take roles and schedules I didn’t want before why they can’t do it again?? Just have me swap with someone. In this great resignation They can’t be serious.
