Literally just finished the rush working at buffet sushi place, me(19m) the owners(husband and wife) and a 15 year old waitress. Since 4 there’s been maybe 80-130 ppl idrk. The owners make sushi and nigiri and I do pretty much everything else ( tempura, wok, general Tao and fried stuff like dumplings won tons spring rolls etc). When the other kid( 15 year old Asian kid) is there I can handle it but on days liek today I’m not surprised a lot of people leave the restaurant unhappy to say the least. The thing is it’s a relatively small city and already people aren’t coming back after getting a abs experience here. I tell my friends not to come here when it’s busy, which is almost always. The food can be really really good but they refuse to have enough staff to do taht. I’ve been here three months which is the second longest and I’m the oldest employee by at least a year. I’m definitely gonna quit soon but it’s just crazy to me they won’t shell out two or three more minimum wage salaries for a 3 hours ( most tables spend like 60-100$+) to get good food and repeat customers.
