Title says it all.
I'm a software dev, and I get reached out to constantly by recruiters and companies because I chose early on to specialize, and my focus has become the new hotness or whatever. Most of the jobs that I get reached out to about are total bullshit, don't actually exists, or are so comically bad I don't think that these companies are genuinely trying to find people to do work. Yesterday I had a company reach out that pitched the idea of telemedicine… for dogs. Yeah.
Anyway, a company reached out and it was in a very interesting space, not some bullshit idea but actually a pretty good one. Pay seemed good too. So I get on the phone with the CEO and the subject of work-life balance comes up and I tell him that I strongly believe in work life balance, that I'm not going to stick around in bad situations, and that everyone has a life outside of work that should take priority.
Boy, howdy, did that trigger the CEO. He proceeds to tell me in an incredibly sarcastic, passive aggressive manner how I have a bad attitude and how he has a dying relative at home that his family is taking care of, but he never gets to spend time with them because he's working so hard and that everyone should follow his example.
I literally hung up on him. Fuck that guy. No amount of code you write is going to sit next to you and hold your hand on your deathbed. I hope his relative comes back as a ghost and haunts him. Prick.
